The game follows the main protagonist Goku and the Z- Fighters throughout the events of the Dragon Ball Z anime series, including anime-original stories and moments.
The game entered generally mixed reviews upon release, but has sold over 2 million duplicates worldwide as of March 2020.
Gameplay.
Kaka Rot is primarily an action RPG with fighting game rudiments. The player can battle opponents and do exertion like fishing, collecting Z balls, eating, driving in a hang bus, training, and putting characters in soul ensigns.
The game's plot follows the progression of the anime series, as the player interacts with the girding world as the different playable characters. The game is broken up into four stories Saiyan Saga, the Namek Saga, continued with the Android Saga (where the player acquires their hang bus), and the Buu Saga.
Perk stories can be bought as downloadable content; including a retelling of the Battle of Gods and the Revivification 'F' stories seen in Dragon Ball Super ( citation demanded). A DLC original plot set after the events of Dragon Ball Z The History of Trunks, featuring Future Lockers' battle with Babidi to help Majin Buu's awakening (a script previously seen in Dragon Ball Z Shin Budokai Another Road's story mode and briefly covered in Super), was released on June 11th, 2021.
There are presently seven playable characters in Dragon Ball Z Kaka rot that the player will guide throughout the story. These include Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Future Lockers, Gotenks, and Vegeta. As the player progresses through the game, they will unleash new characters to play.
In addition to the playable characters, the player will be suitable to handpick two supporting characters to prop in their battle each with their own special moves. These current characters include Krillin, Yamcha, Tien Shinhan, Chiaotzu, Android 18, Gotten, and Sprat Lockers.
The heads that appear in- game include Raditz, Nappa, Vegeta, Cui, Dodoria, Zarbon, Ginyu Force, Frieza, Android 19, Android 20, Android 18, Android 17, Cell,CellJr., Pui Pui, Yukon, Dabura, Majin Vegeta, Majin Buu, Super Buu, Kid Buu, Beerus and Mira. Bonyū (ボニュー), an original character designed by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama for the game, also appears as a master.
Development.
The game was first announced in January 2019 via a caravan during Dragon Ball Fighter Z World Tour Tests under the working title Dragon Ball Game Project t Z. 4, Xbox One, and PC through Steam. Although firstly targeting 2019 release, the final title, Dragon Ball Z Kakapo, and the early 2020 release window were announced during Microsoft's 2019 E3 conference.
The game was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles in Japan on January 16, and for all platforms in the west one day subsequently on January 17, 2020. The Nintendo Switch interpretation of the game was announced in June 2021, and released on September 24, 2021. It includes the base game and" A New Power Awakens" DLC.
Downloadable Content.
The DLC introduces characters and stories from Dragon Ball Super, allowing the player to play as Goku and Vegeta in their Super Saiyan God metamorphoses. The alternate DLC, named A New Power Awakens Part 2, lets players battle 1000 adversaries, including Golden Frieza, as seen in Super's Revivification 'F' Saga.
A free update was released on the October 27, 2020 called Dragon Ball Card Dogfaces.
A new DLC plot was announced to be released in Summer 2021. The DLC features an original plot taking place in Unborn Lockers' t timeline, seen in The History of Lockers and roughly predicated on Shin Budokai Another Road's story mode.
